Take Flight on the Trails at Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern University proudly offers scenic walking and running trails on the East Georgia Campus in Swainsboro, giving students, faculty, staff, and community members space to move, train, and enjoy the outdoors.
Eagle Trail (1 Mile)
The 1-Mile Eagle Trail is a welcoming walking route that winds through the Swainsboro campus. Open to the Georgia Southern community and the public, the trail provides a relaxing option for daily walks, light exercise, and outdoor wellness.
Eagle Cross Country Course (5K / 10K)
The East Georgia Campus is also home to the Eagle Cross Country Course, featuring a 5K (3.1-mile) layout with a 10K option. Designed for practices, meets, and recreational running, the course supports use by area schools, campus groups, and community runners.
Once fully restored, the course will be open for regular use with flexible scheduling. Schools or organizations interested in hosting events are asked to provide at least 10 days’ advance notice. Coordination for meets and event questions is managed through the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Trail Status Update
Due to damage caused by Hurricane Helene and ongoing repairs to trail signage and course areas, the Eagle Cross Country Course (5K and 10K) is currently closed. Restoration efforts are underway, and the trails will reopen once conditions are confirmed safe.
Please remain out of closed trail areas until an official reopening notice is shared. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
